A trustworthy electronics repair shop checks the device first, explains the fault and cost before starting, gives you a receipt, and offers a warranty. Genuine customer reviews and a clear workshop address are important signs too. Use this checklist before leaving a device.

Seven things to check

  1. A clear workshop address. You can visit in person, and it is listed on Google Maps.
  2. Genuine customer reviews. Read reviews that describe real repairs, not just star ratings.
  3. The device is checked first. A good shop doesn’t quote a price before seeing the device.
  4. The cost is agreed up front. Work starts only after you accept the estimate.
  5. A receipt. It should list the device, the problem, and any accessories left with it.
  6. A warranty. Ask what it covers and for how long, and keep the proof.
  7. Plain explanations. You have a right to know what is broken and what was replaced.

Warning signs

  • A very low price promised over chat that rises sharply once the device is opened.
  • No receipt or proof of drop-off.
  • Work done without your approval.
  • No explanation of the fault, or refusal to show replaced parts.
